Hello,

Is there someone out there who could advise on How To Make A Recovery CD or
Floppy?
I am not talking about a bootable cd. I like to create a recovery cd or
floppy, so that the actual programs
remain on a hidden partition on the hdd. When something goes wrong, only
the floppy or cd is needed to restore the pc back to its original state. I
see that mostly on these HP / Compaq /Dell pcs.
I like to use one for the kids because I am tired of reinstallations.

Thanks in advance.

Use PowerQuest Drive Image available from www.powerquest.com. Drive Image
creates an exact image of your partition backed up to another partition or
removable media source i.e. CD.

Is this then a sort "ghost image".
Does the restoration not require first fdisken etc etc. Or just start and
set image back?

A good image program (I use Image from www.bootitng.com) will restore
over an existing partition (provided it is not smaller than needed by
the image) or onto total virgin hard disk, in which case it creates the
partition in the process. In the case of Image it normally makes a
bootable CD that does the whole job, with no software needing to be
installed on the computer at all.
