Make JPG kb size smaller, how?

P

I have a jpg file on my site that is 28 kb. It doesn't sound big, but on
dial up it displays on the page too slow for me. I have seen prettier
looking jpg files as small as 8kb--even though they appear to be the same
size on the screen as my jpg. Is there anything I can do to take a jpg from
28kb to half that in file size? Anything I might not have thought of?

Trial and Error. In you image application adjust the image quality or
compression settings.

Hey, I just realized something. I right clicked on that image and emailed it
to myself. When I did that, it prompted me to make all images smaller. When
I got it back in email, it was 12k smaller but looked exactly the same.

That's not really the right approach ... get a good image editor so you have
complete control. See suggestions in my Resources.
