Make dns lookup check hosts file first

On windows XP pro is there a way to force a dns lookup to first check
the `hosts' file at C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

My home network machines will never resolve in an a dns lookup on my
IPs dns machine so can I make it check the `hosts' file for a match
first?

I do have lmhosts enabled and imported a hosts file with all local
machines listed.

In most OS, it should check the hosts file first.

NetBIOS and WINSName resolution order on Windows XP's previous version NetBIOS and WINS are required in a .... WINS server; 3. Broadcast; 4. LMHOSTS file; 5. HOSTS; 6. DNS. ...
