Make a XP CD

My computer came with XP Home preinstalled. I have no XP CD but there is a
D: partition for recovery purposes.

I would like to burn a copy of XP to a CD. What files would I burn from the
D: partition? Is this legal?

Actually several OEM manufacturers have directions on their website
explaining how to do just that!

Certainly it is legal. Your license to use the operating system is tied
to the product key, not to the installation media. Check on your
computer mftr.'s tech support website for how to back up the recovery
partition.
