Where can I find info about making boot cd's? Some utilities will make
crude (DOS) boot cd's.
Can you make a CD to replace floppie and perhaps boot to safe mode with USB
support?

For that you need one of the CD burning packages - Nero or Easy CD
Creator.

They both have 'Boot CD' options, which need an image download of a DOS
based floppy or an actual such floppy, so as to generate the bit that
boots. You can then put files in the rest of the disk in the normal
way, which will be 'seen' as a CD with appropriate letter when you boot
the disk. I recommend using a Win98 startup floppy as the base.

The only approach I can think of would be exactly equivalent to booting
the SP system with the option menu to Safe mode, or booting the regular
XP CD direct - and would not have USB support
