Major website change

We are changing our business focus and would like to totally replace our
current site. What is the best way to replace the current website with a new
one? Our domain name will remain the same.

Specifically, do I create a new website and upload it to the current
location? If so, will this delete the pages currently on the site? If not,
do I need to delete the site manually? Or do I use web host tools to remove
the old one?

I'm looking for the easiest changeover possible.

What I would do:

Get the new site to the point it's ready to publish.

Open the old site on the server in FrontPage.
Delete everything *but* the images and _private folders.
Open the images folder and delete it's contents.
Open the _private folder and delete it's contents

Close the remote site, open the new local site and "Publish all"

It will not delete any files it doesn't overwrite. Your best bet would be,
when you are ready to publish the new version, to open the hosted site in
FrontPage and manually delete all the files and folders, and then publish
the new site to it.
