Major problems with update KB937287

I have discussed some of this on another newsgroup but perhaps someone here
can help.
I have a new laptop with Vista Home Premium. A large number of updates have
installed themselves without problem but KB937287 is causing me grief.
Looking back over the update history it shows a successful update on 14th
Feb then some other updates were installed OK. Since then every time I
reboot it tries to install KB937287 again and fails. The machine takes an
age to shutdown-reboot-shutdown-reboot and then login every time as it tries
and fails to install the update.
The list of installed updates does NOT include this one in spite of the
update history having shown that first good install. I can't uninstall and
reinstall as it is not in the installed list! I tried a manual install
which also fails. Always error code 80070BC9.
There are no disk errors. Whenever I run sfc /scannow shows an error is
pending and requires a reboot.
Any ideas? I am reluctant to start all over with system recovery disk as it
insists on splitting my drive into two equal partitions and I have to use
Acronis Disk Director to resize the partitions and then reinstall all my
applications.

Bring back DOS2.2 - my brain can cope with that.

you're not alone, I'm having similar problems with this update. I have
managed to get it installed by doing a lot of system restores in safe mode
but then when I try to install the other problem update, KB938371, the
KB937287 update is still listed as installed but Windows Update keeps trying
to update it.

I see that KB938371 shows as installed on my machine. I suspect that
KB937287 did install in the original instance but either did not correctly
register in the list of installed updates or some component of the update
has somehow become corrupted.

It will be interesting to see what happens when SP1 appears in a week or
two.

I managed to get it all installed at last. I took my wireless router out and
connected the PC directly to the broadband source and the updates installed
without a hitch!
