Major problems with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+

Ok so I just finished putting together a new computer a few days ago
and I have been having a lot of trouble. Here is the system:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Windsor 2.4GHz Socket AM2 Dual Core Processor
Model ADA4600CUBOX
ASUS EN7600GT SILENT/2DHT/256M Geforce 7600GT 256MB
GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card
ABIT KN9S Socket AM2 NVIDIA nForce 550 MCP ATX AMD Motherboard
[b:66bcb81fa6]pqi TURBO 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2
6400) Unbuffered Dual Channel Kit[/b:66bcb81fa6]
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard
Drive
[b:66bcb81fa6]XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power
Supply[/b:66bcb81fa6]
ASUS Silver ATAPI/E-IDE DVD-ROM Drive Model DVD-E616A2 SV
[b:66bcb81fa6]NEC 16X DVD±R DVD Burner Silver IDE/ATAPI Model ND-3550A
- OEM[/b:66bcb81fa6]
Viewsonic VA902b LCD 19'' Analog Monitor

Basically what happens is that when I hit the power switch, all of the
fans start, the light on the mobo lights up, the disk drives are
opperational, I THINK the hard drive spins, and I can't really tell
if the graphics card is running because it's supposed to be 0dB
silent.

My big problem is that I do not even hear a post beep or anything when
I power on the system. The monitor says that it is receiving no
signal and basically it just sits there and looks pretty inside while
it does nothing (thanks to cool LED's everywhere!). Please give ANY
suggestions that might help me get my baby up and running! Nothing
is more depressing than getting a new computer and then having it not
work...

make sure that you have connected the 4 pin power supply connector to
the motherboard

If everything including the extra 4-pin power connector to the
mainboard is plugged in, I'll put money on the power supply. Replace
with Antec or Enermax and try again. Otherwise it could be the
mainboard. If you wanted a machine that'd work out of the box, buying
it might have been more fun.

start out with a minimal hardware configuration...

just the RAM and video board

Check that you have all the necessary power supply connections to the
motherboard and also check if your graphics card needs a p/s feed too.

Try removing and reseating the RAM and check the graphics card is pushed all
the way in. Best to remove it and reinsert.

Remove all other cards.

HTH.

Let us know how you get on.

Hope it works out.

Bah! Any monkey can plug in some purchased-off-the-shelf box and plug it in
and have it start right up. Building your own system is for manly men, and
these hassles put hair on your chest! You'll be so proud and happy happy
when you finally get this thing working... and you WILL get it working.

In all seriousness, however, check the four-pin power supply connecter and
make sure that you've plugged it in to the apporiate socket on the
motherboard near the CPU. If that doesn't fix the problem, I'd swap out the
power supply with a spare, as I believe someone else also suggested.
