Hi,

I decided to click the "catalog files for the Content Indexer" in the disc
cleanup facility, it started to delte files all over the place, now if i put
PC on it comes up with a username and password now that i never had before,
even if i try to boot from the XP pro cd it asks for a password.

The problem is that it won't even let me type anything inot the password
fiels to try various passwords.
Any suggestions
greg

I check everything except compress old files in both disk cleanup and
cleanmgr /sagerun:xx and never had a problem. I would look elsewhere.
Perhaps some type of malware.

Thanks for that the damage was so severe that I could not acces windows at
all as the clean up for some reson had deleted most of system files.

I used the opportunity to install a new hard drive. Fortunately i do a
backup every month so I didnt lose a huge amount of stuff. But hey i wont be
clicking that damned cleanup button ever again!

You're welcome Craigie. The point is, don't use registry cleaners. Or use them very cautiously.
