Major problem - vista won't boot, even in safe mode

Having a problem here. I am away from home for a few weeks, so I don't have
my Vista cd's with me.

I noticed Vista installed a bunch of updates throughout the day today (maybe
10). I got a notification saying not all updates were installed. I
attempted to install the 2 that hadn't installed. There was an error
installing, so I decided to reboot.

Now when I try to boot, everything looks normal, I get the first Vista
screen. Then my display (I have the system hooked directly to a TV through
S-video) briefly flickers off as if the computer turned off. Then for a
moment I see the mouse icon, which I can control. The whole system then
restarts every time. It will go through this whole process repeatedly and
Vista itself never actually boots. Even when I try to start in safe mode,
the same thing happens.

As I said, I won't have my vista cd's for a few weeks. Is there anything at
all I can do, or do I have to wait to try to "repair windows" with the vista
disc? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you don't actually boot up completely you should try Last Known Good
Configuration, at the same place as Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, try Safe
Mode with Command Prompt and see if that will atleast boot up. Other than
that, you will need to wait for the cd to do a Startup Repair or System
Restore.

Thanks for the suggestions, but neither of those methods booted either.. Is
there any way to download any type of "windows repair" bootable CD or
anything like that?

Thanks.

Unless you can find a third party dvd image, there isn't. If you have someone
else's copy of Vista or even a demo cd you can do it. It doesn't have to be
your own disc.
