So after an unfortinate frying of my previous Dell Dimension 8300 Hard drive,
I was told by Dell to buy a new one. When it came, I installed it in replace
of the old one and started up the computer with the "WINDOWS OPERATING
SYSTEM" CD that came with the computer when we bought it in 2003. While
loading I noticed it took a considerable amount of time, which you may think
is normal or not, but during the 5 hours + of waiting the "39 minutes" that
Windows gave as an approxamate time became more and more clear was not
reachable. I consulted Dell, once again, and they had me unload the operating
system and reload it... again. I let it run all night, woke up, typed in some
info that it required, left for school, came back and it was supposedly done.
The computer restarted but took just about 5 minutes to just get to the
"Welcome" screen. Obviously, I ONCE AGAIN (5th time now), contacted Dell were
they had me restart and restart and restart. Then I was told to just put the
Operating System CD back in and go through a repair and was told it would
only take around 45 minutes. Now, 3 hours later, Windows XP Pro. is ONCE
AGAIN being installed into my computer. And the oh-so-familiar "39 minute"
prompt is becoming as old as time. It has been running for an hour now and it
only says "36 minutes". Nothing has been loaded on the new harddrive, and it
has not been in access with the internet, unless it now some how goes through
the power cordes.
PLEASE HELP!
