Major Dialup problem

I have one dial-up only, through a USB TA on Windows XP SP1. The only
patches I have installed are the cumulative IE patch and the Blaster patch.
This is a fresh clean install of 4 days ago! I have an up-to-date AV prog
(Avast) and a Firewall (Kerio) in place.
Suddenly, without having altered anything, the systray connection icon has
disappeared even though the "show icon" box is checked, the properties of
the connectoid say "Disconnected" when it is actually connected and after
re-creating the dial-up, I can't mark it as Default.
I have tried deleting the connectoid, re-booting, and re-creating to no
avail. I have tried unchecking the "show icon when connected", restarting,
and re-checking the box, nothing.

Help!

Hi,

I have resolved the same problem by removing the network card from device
manager and reinstalling it.

Ramesh

That's interesting, any idea why the network card should affect the dial-up?

I had another problem along with the one you said. KenWickes replied stating
that this is a enumeration problem with nic.
