maintenance?

Hello

How frequently should I defragment and check disc. I have done a lot of photo editing and moving files since I got the the new computer.
Are there any other maintenance matters that I should consider.
As always any information greatly appreciated.

It's not worth running CHKDSK too often, as it's unlikely to find anything. I run it a handful of times per year, but if you wanted to be prudent then maybe once per month.

If you have an defrag application on a schedule, then once a week sounds about right . It all depends on how often you use your computer, so just see how much fragmentation there is after a week and base it on that (if it's only a few percent, then no need to worry).

Don't bother running anything, until you "seem" to have a problem.
