main form subform relationships

When creating a subform…does there have to be a one-to-many relationship with
the main form or can subform be created without this relationship? If so,
how?

If you leave the MasterLink and ChildLink properties blank then the
subform will show all of its records and it will not change as you
navigate in the main form.
