You can change this in the registry. First, you need to decide which screen
saver you want to use. All of the screen savers are in the
C:\Windows\System32 folder. They all have the ".scr" file extension.
Open Windows Explorer and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32 folder. Go to
the Search Box at the top right side of the window and type: *.scr This
will find all files with the .scr file extension. Locate the one you want to
use and write down the name of the file. You can preview each screen saver
there by right clicking the file and select the Test option from the menu.
Once you decide which one you want to use, go to Start and type:
regedit.exe Press Enter and this should open the registry editor.
Navigate to the following Key.
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop
In the right side, you should see a Value called SCRNSAVE.EXE
Double click SCRNSAVE.EXE. This will open the data dialog box. You will see
the path to the current screen saver there. It should show:
C:\Windows\system32\logon.scr Which is the default screen saver.
Change the file name in the path to your preferred screen saver. Lets say
that you decided that you want "Ribbons.scr". Change the path to:
C:\Windows\system32\ribbons.scr
Press OK and exit the registry editor.
You need to log off to see the change.
