Main DC failed

I have a system with two win2k DC's and recently the first DC (DC-1) crashed,
the remaining DC (DC-2) is still authenticating users, my problem is that now
that I fixed DC-1, I reinstalled Windows 2k and tried to add it to the domain
as an additional server by installing Active Directory, the proccess stops
telling me "the specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted."
This sytem was migrated from an NT4 system, and back then, DC-1 became the
PDC and DC-2 an additional DC. Now we don't have any NT servers in the
network.
What am I doing wrong? I just want to make sure that I put DC-1 as the it
was before it crashed. Help!

Point the new DC to the same DNS server your clients are pointing to.
