MailWasher/MailWasherPro

I am using MailWasher (freeware) with success ( I think). But there is a
MailWasherPro, for which you have to pay some dollars. Pro-version can be
connected with more than only one mail-address. But are there other
diferences compared with the freeware version? I have tried to study the
MailWasher-site, but I did not find any explanation ( perhaps I did not find
the right place). I would be very gratefull for all comments- SK

There is a free version that works with multiple email addresses. I think
it is version 2.0.40. Might be worth checking out. I don't know what the
differences are between it and the Pro version sorry.

No, the only substantial difference is that the Pro version handles
multiple email accounts. If you only have one account, there is not
great advantage to the Pro version.

<http://www.mailwasher.net/> on the front page there is a table
showing feature comparison of free and pro version.

In addition to browsing the web forum Bill Bradshaw suggested, you
might also want to browse past "mailwasher messages" in this group -
for comments and for URLs to previous free versions. Google search
links follows:

"Mailwasher pro" search:
<http://google.com/groups?as_epq=mailwasher pro&as_ugroup=alt.comp.freeware>

Mailwasher search:

All the best,

last multiple account freeware version of Mailwasher was 1.33 -
download links here:

http://www.pricelessware.org/2003/PL2003INTERNET.htm#M105

Actually, that's not accurate. There were 2.x versions (I don't
know whether they ever got out of beta, but the releases were very
stable from my experiences) which not only supported multiple
accounts, but checked the multiple accounts at the same time. (It
pulls the info for all accounts immediately, as opposed to checking
one account, then the next, then the next.) It also has the added
bonus of supporting MSN/Hotmail. At the risk of drawing the ire of
John Corliss, it is betaware (but not time-limited). You can
download 2.0.28 from

http://arsmusic.myquickfind.com/scripts/atfile_top10music_list.asp?member_no=117

Just click the yellow or blue disk icons with a down arrow on them.

Yeah just went to install the 2.0.40 version that I had backed up
and it's the single account one! Thanks for the heads up!

See <[email protected]>, my reply to Susan. In it
I link to 2.0.28 which, while a beta, is more efficient than the 1.x
series. If you can't find that post (it'll probably be either right
above or below your post) then the link is:

Just click the yellow or blue disk icons with a down arrow on them to

I used MailWasher for 3 months with absolutely NO effect on an email
address that I had stopped using for anything else.

I have since switched to a different ISP that uses Spam Assassin on
their mail server and am much happier.

There is also SpamGourmet.com as well.

Yes, the pro version has a message "preview" pane. VERY handy to
quickly see what is/isn't spam. In the older versions one has to
individually click on a message to preview it.

Hmm...the link worked before, but for whatever reason isn't now. I
hate sites which do that. Anyways, the direct link to the download is

ftp://ftp4.atfile.com/download/mailwasher/2.0.28beta/mailwasher2b28.exe

Maybe Susan would be interested in including this one for download
at the Pricelessware site?

You top posted, so I have no idea what site you're referring to.

I find one glance at the headers is enough
