Mailing Lists-Accepting Mail

When I beling to a mailing list do I have to put *everyone*on the list in my
address book or is there a way to approve mail from the mailing list in its
entirety?

Everyone, unfortunately. Most mailing lists put the individual responder's
address in the 'From' field. You don't have to add them to your address book,
you can simply put them on the Safe Senders list.
The way I handle this is to give the mailing list a unique address of mine,
then I whitelist anything coming in through that account.
