DianneS

Have been having spuractic probs with this issue and by the end of the day it
seemed resolved itself. Now since 2/20/09 can't use mail acct. in Windows
Mail. I have contacted my service provider and everything is right on their
end. Have to go thru Hughes.net web page to send & rec my mail. Using Vista.
This is the error...

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed))'. Subject 'Phone
Bill', Account: 'Work', Server: 'smtp.hughes.net', Protocol: SMTP, Server
Response: '501 5.1.3 Bad recipient address syntax', Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Server Error: 501, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Thanks for your quick response. It makes no difference if I remove the " or
not I can't even send an e-mail to myself typing in the address manually. As
I stated this is not the first time this has happened it's just the first
time it lasted this long. I have 2 other accts. within the program. One
didn't work earlier now it does and I didn't do anything. The main acct
(mine) is the one I am having problems with now. I can go thru the internet
mail and it works, but I can't with the program.

Thank you. However, what I did was delete the acct. and re-enter it with the
defaults on the server port number 25. That didn't work, so I tried the port
address as 587 and it worked. Don't know why when the other 2 accts are still
server port 25. I'm just glad it's working.

Thanks for your effort.
