mail opens in wrong program

I Installed Thunderbird (mozilla firefox) for my business account only, well
it seems to have
taken over my computer, whenever I receive a attachment with outlook express,
Thunderbird is the program that opens up the attachment, this is not the way
I
want it set up nor is it the way it worked before installing Thunderbird,
also
whenever I click on a *contact me* link it uses Thunderbird and I don't want
it
doing that, I want it back to using my outlook express. I have looked high
and
low for a solution and cant find it. under tools and options it doe not give
me
any mail options.

under Tools -> Options -> General -> Default Messaging Programs" In Outlook
Express it says it is my default mail handler, yet whenever there is a
attachment, yet it still opens in Thunderbird

It's an internet explorer option, control panel, internet options, programs

Checked that also....it says outlook express but its not working like that,
also a FYI I use mozilla firefox as my browser--also
OK under Tools -> Options -> General -> Default Messaging Programs" In
Outlook Express it says it is my default mail handler, yet whenever there is
a attachment, it opens in Thunderbird

Try changing the file type association for the particular file type. **

I have no idea what this is or what it means.....

Thunderbird has nothing to do with Firefox. It is a completely different
program. This forum is for Office's Outlook, not Outlook Express-- a windows
program. You should try Thunderbird's help site or just uninstall Thunderbird.

I did try thunderbirds forums and they sent me here. I know thunderbird has
nothing to do with firefox, that is not my question (i just stated it so
someone knows WHICH programs I use so they could be more helpful)
If this isnt the forum for outlook express, what like will get me there -
cause Im getting the run around.

playfulangel,
Try saving the attachment to you hard drive, not necessary if you have
similar files already saved on your PC. Say the attachment is a *.JPG file.

Right-click the file> Select "Open With..."> Select Choose Program> Select
the program that you want to use for this file type, such as Windows Fax &
Picture Viewer> Check the box that states, Use this program to always open
this kind of file. Repeat with other files on your PC, that are sent as
attachments to your email accounts, that Thunderbird has received and has
been used to open them with.

If you already have these file types stored on your PC, you do not have to
save them first from Thunderbird. But you will need to re-associate them
with the program that you prefer to use to view and work with them.
