Can anyone advise me how to set notification that I have
mail. In other words, as mail comes to me I would like to
see the notification that "You have mail"

Hi, Fred.

Just leave OE running in the background, set to check for new mail
frequently. It will put the little envelope icon in your Notification Area
(what most of us still call the System Tray, or SysTray) when you have
unread messages. Also, if you click Tools | Options... and check the box on
the first (General) tab, it will beep to notify you.

If you click Control Panel | Sounds and Audio Devices | Sounds, you can
change the sound that plays when new mail arrives. You can probably even
find a copy of the AOL "You've got mail" and have it play that, if you like.

Of course, if you shut down OE, or disconnect from your mail server, then
the computer has no way to know that you have new mail.

Have you read the documentation or HELP file supplied with your mail
reading software?
What program are you using to read mail?

Thanks a bunch
