Mail message texts missing

For some reason all text from all of my mail messages are
missing. The only way I can read my mail messages is by
saving them as *.txt files. I have relatively new XP
version (got a new computer few weeks ago). The mail
messages were readable at first, but then I downloaded
some Windows update last week and I believe this has
caused the problem. How could I fix this?
