Mail Merging a Distribution List

Guest

Hello,

I am trying to perfrom a mail merge in Microsoft Outlook 2003 for a fairly
large number of contacts. My ultimate preference would be to mail merge an
entire distribution list; is this possible?

When I am in the merging function within Microsoft Word 2003 in allows to to
choose from my entire contact list but does not include my organized
distribution lists.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Office cannot perform a mail merge to a distribution list. You have three choices:

1) Create a single mail message and send it with the DL name in the Bcc field and, preferably, some other address in the To field.

2) Save the DL as a text file, open it in Notepad, then remove the top lines so you are left with a file that contains only addresses. Import this tab-delimited text file into a new contacts folder in Outlook, then perform the merge with that folder.

3) Use a separate bulk mail application designed to use a DL as the source for a mail merge; see http://www.slipstick.com/addins/mail.htm#massmail.
