mail merge

Hello all,
Does anyone know if you can mail merge from excel with the field headings
being in columns rather than rows - if so please point me in the right
direcetion.
If not, the only way I can think of mail merging from my existing template
with field headings in columns is by linking to another excel template and
transpose into rows and then mail merge.
The existing template is for use in a report and is property specific so not
for multiples letters or reports. The template information is a result of
reasearched informtation for use in a property valuation report (eg client
name, dwelling type, zoning information, soil contamination etc etc)
Further, if anyone has information regarding using templates and mail
merging info into a standard report feel free to enlighten me!

Thankyou all

A mail merge data source must be a table the top row of which (not separated
from the data rows by an empty row) contains the merge field labels.

Mail merge cannot handle the field names in columns rather than as the first
row of the data source, Therefore, you would need to transpose the data to
be able to use in in a merge document.
