Mail Import to Two Machines

I import mail from an office server to my personal computer at home and a
laptop I use for work using. Both are setup for POP3. I use MS Outlook 2003
on my personal computer and 2002 on my work laptop. New mail I've imported
on one machine will not import on the other machine. Why? Also, opened
(old) mail will not import. Groupwise is the office server email program.

From what format are you importing? What happens when you try? Which of
the machines is having trouble? (Let me guess: the Outlook 2002 system.)

HTML format. Mail imported on one machine will not import on the other and
vice versa. Both machines are having the same issue. The same mail imported
on one machine will not import on the other machine. It's as though each
machine sees that the mail was already imported somewhere else and will not
import. When I use Groupwise to view the mail on the server, all the mail is
still there. Only copies are imported.

This can't be correct. You can't import HTML into Outlook.
Mail imported on one machine will not import on the
other and vice versa.

Like I ask, what exactly happens when you try? What are the exact steps
you're taking to accomplish this?

I'm afraid I simply don't understand what you're trying to do. Please
explain in detail.

Well, then, I'm not sure what you mean by "format". I checked the settings
in Outlook. It says HTML format.

Where in the import process do you see this?

Nowhere. When I open Outlook, Send/Receive starts automatically and grabs
new mail only from the server.

You said "import" four times. I'm asking you what process you're using for
importing and you won't answer that question.
When I open Outlook, Send/Receive starts automatically and
grabs new mail only from the server.

What do you expect it to grab and what does this have to do with importing?

Perhaps, import is the wrong word. I'm trying to "retrieve" email from a
server to two separate computers. When I retrieve mail from the server to
one of the computers, I cannot retrieve the same mail from the server to the
other computer, even though the same mail remains on the server.

I think I understand now. What type of account are on each machine? Which
machine successfully obtains the messages and which doesn't?

The account type on both machines is POP/SMTP. They both successfully
retrieve new (unopened) email. However, new mail retrieved by the first
machine will not retrieve on the second machine, and vice versa. Also, on
both machines, I can only retrieve new mail (current today) instead of all
mail (yesterday and older).

Unless the mail server is doing something to the messages left on it, this
is not typical Outlook behavior or, in fact, for any POP client. When a POP
client downloads messages, it marks them as downloaded only for itself. The
server doesn't care and most servers do not alter the messages in any way.
If the client leaves them on the server, then any other client that has not
downloaded those messages should see them as new and download them for
itself. As long as you leave copies of the messages on the server, each
Outlook should treat any messages as new that it has not seen before. I'm
at a loss to explain what you see, unless your server is somehow moving the
messages out of its inbox or refusing to present them to the second machine
in some way. I just don't see how it's an Outlook problem.

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure there wasn't an Outlook setting somwhere
I needed to flip. I, too, suspect there is something going on with the
server or, more likely, Groupwise, which is the email program running on the
server.

Thanks, for all your help, patience, and time.
