Today the first email I had got deleted before I could open it. I also found
that all the folders I had imported (and were there last time I looked) from
Yahoo were gone as well. I don't even have a "saved" email folder!

I've checked my deleted mail as well as my spam box. All are empty.
I have Vista with service pack 1.

Help! Please! Can I find this stuff or is it irretrievably lost?

The same thing happens to me. And it is almost always family and friend's
e-mails that it happens to. Frequently it is a reply to an e-mail I sent
them, so I know there is no virus in it. It actually infuriates me because it
Does always choose e-mails I really want to read. This is the first time I
have seen anyone else complain of this problem, but I don't see Microsoft
answering with a solution.

I am ready to change to Eudora.

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not fully compatible
with Windows Mail.

How did you import from Yahoo? Free Yahoo accounts are webmail only,
and can't be imported in Windows Mail.

How do you know that a reply to your email doesn't contain a virus?
For all you know, the sender's PC could be infected.

I know they don't have viruses because we talk. Among the ones that have been
deleted are my daughter, my sister and several of my friends. It may delete
one from them and not the next one. It never deletes all of any one person's
e-mails, just an occasional one. No, If they had a virus, it would always be
there. And, at least some of them would inform me of it. It is a fault in the
program apparently.

Well, it certainly is not a normal occurrence for Windows Mail to lose messages.
The only possible cause I can think of is that you are running an antivirus program
that is not fully compatible with Windows Mail. Which antivirus is it?

Vista does not come with an antivirus program. Please identify the name of
your antivirus.
