I would like to be able to have an e-mail alert on my desktop without the
windows mail window having to be open. I hope they are working on some sort
of downloadable update for this feature!
I don't want to have windows live 2.0 beta. I don't need to have rss feeds.

I am looking for newsgroups. I can only find the Microsoft. Where can I
find other topics?

If you are connected to the Microsoft Communities Server, that's all your
going to find. There are others. Your ISP may suggest them.

You'll have to add another newsgroup account under Windows Mail
first. Ask your internet provider if they have a newsgroup server, and
if so, how to set up to use it. If they haven't written instructions on how
to do it under Windows Mail, their instructions for Outlook Express
will probably also work under Windows Mail.

The Microsoft news server only carries Microsoft newsgroups.
For other newsgroups, add another newsgroup account using a different
news server, which would typically be your ISP's news (NNTP) server.
Your ISP should have directions for this on their website.

So why did you hijack this thread? (by changing the subject line) Start your
own thread.

That is all that is available on the MS news server.

You need to check if your ISP provides a news feed, or pay for access to
one, or even find a free server?

Try http://www.motzarella.org it is free and good. Enjoy.
