I saw a shop selling a webcam that allowed close shooting at 4cm.

Is it trust-worthy? Any gotchas?

What Brand and model are you talking about? I recently bought a
cheap USB microscope (CARSON zPix). It works as advertised, but
the largest object you can view is less than 1" square.
