Macro question

Just moved Excel from an XP PC to a Vista PC. Whenever I open a
worksheet containing macros, I get a message about macros containing
viruses. I click Enable, but still don't have the toolbar button
shortcuts for the macros. I've moved the .xlb file and the
personal.xls file, is there something else I need to move? And how do
I get rid of those virus messages? Thanks
 
This is just a guess, as I don't have Vista, but you may want to check your
Macro security settings or put a self signed certificate on these workbooks.

Thanks Barb, but unfortunately that's all Greek to me. Sigh...
 
With Excel 2007 you may be able to get around this for your own personal
files and files from truly trusted sources. It allows you to declare certain
locations (folders) as trusted and will always permit macros in files opened
from those locations to function without any hinderance or warning at all.

Click the Excel Office button, choose the Excel Options button near the
lower right of the window. Choose 'Trust Center' in the next window. Click
the [Trust Center Settings...] button in the window that comes up. Finally,
click the Trusted Locations link in the left pane and add trusted locations
as needed. Put your .xls, .xlsx, .xlsm files into your trusted location.

Hope this helps some.

P.S. Some anti-virus programs also inhibit macros from running - I know
Kaspersky Anti-Virus has that feature, so you may want to check that out also.
 
Darn it, Steve - I apologize. For some reason I thought you had also moved
to Excel 2007 with your move to Vista. I don't have a setup like that - my
one and only Vista machine also has Excel 2007 on it, not an earlier version.
So all of my rambling about trusted locations in Excel 2007 are probably
totally useless to you. So, like Barb Reinhardt, I'm blind in that area.

No problem, I appreciate your taking the time to respond! Migrating to
a new OS sure isn't much fun. I particularly love the programs
purchased years ago, that now inform me (after being reinstalled) that
I have 30 days to pay up or else. Some of those programs don't even
exist anymore, no way to get it straightened out. ugh ugh ugh

I deleted the macros, still getting the virus message every time I
open the worksheet. Any ideas?
 
Tried this, got nowhere - no Project Explorer onscreen. Is this really
the only way to remove a macro in Excel? Seems utterly ridiculous...
