I am sure that this question has been asked a million
times but here goes, I have an XP Pro SP1 box running a
P4 2.6 with 700 Mb RAM - very recently it has slowed down
to a crawl. When I run task manager it says that the CPU
is at 100% utilisation nearly all the time. I am running
anti-virus software, spamkiller and McAfee firewall, all
over a 56K connection. Any advice on how to analyse /
solve this issue. Many thanks in advance,

Bill

Bring up task manager > Processes tab and click the CPU column
Note the name of the process which is consuming the most CPU.
Then work out which application / service it relates to (eg via Google)

Jon

Go to the next step in task manager and use the process tab to find out
which process is consuming the CPU cycles.
