Machine Check Exception 9c

Andrew

Whilst playing Doom 3 my machine will crash and report a Machine Check
Exception 9c. I have the following:

AMD 64 3000+ CPU
OCZ Modstream 520W PSU (just fitted as another forum suggest this had
classic symptoms of being power related!)
2 x 512 Mb Elixir PC 3200 RAM
Leadtek 6800 GT 256Mb AGP graphics card
2 x 80 Gb Seagate SATA drives (RAID 0)
Aureon 5.1 Fun PCI soundcard
3 x Optical drives
Windows XP Home SP2

I have recorded my voltages whilst playing and they are very stable. CPU
temperature increases from 34oC to 40oC and the CPU fan goes from 3000 rpm
to 4000 rpm. The crash seems to be at random, might be whilst graphics are
fairly intens with lots going on or when I am stood still.

Any help would be much aprpeciated.

Thanks,

Andy

Make sure your cards drivers are updated and that dx9c is installed and
working propperly... Doom needs dx9c and will install it, resurrection of
evil will too. The readme file says even if you have dx9c it won't hurt to
reinstall dx9c from the Doom setup disk. Also, if you are overclocking your
cpu or gpu you might want to restore your defaults and make sure the cards
fan and all fans are cooling down and or removing heat from the case..

Not overclocked and I have DX 9c installed. Will re-install it though.
Have now moved the memory so that it is in single channel as opposed to dual
channel to see if that helps.

Thanks,

Andy
