M$ paranoia gone wrong!!!!!!

I cannot believe this!

I've had this Dell computer running XP for over three years and
tonight it began running slow and hanging. At first I thought I'd
picked up something nasty and began looking for possibilities.

I eventually did a re-boot only to see a peculiliar icon in the
systray, one that resembles a star! This happily tells me that the
copy of XP I've been running for 3+ years is not
geniune!?!?!?!!?!!???!!

What a load of twaddle!!!!!

Of course it's geniune, I've previously validated, registered, updated
and everything else, but Bill Gates empire has really thrown a wobbly
by telling even geniune holders they have counterfeit copies and to
buy a real one or else!!!!!!!

No wonder people despise them so much when they pull this on geniune
holders of the software.

Muppets!

Simple my a*s.
Thanks for the info, I have in fact revalidated using the facility on
the windows website.

What infuriates me most is that M$ is making millions in profit and
yet still has this paranoia over counterfeiting. Don't get me wrong
I'm not condoning the practice, but people like M$ and other
distributers of music and films think the answer to combating piracy
is to take these measures! Which because it's flawed cannot
discriminate between genuine or counterfeit.

The answer is quite simple, especially here in the UK, where prices
match the US Dollar to the Pound (which makes things 40% more
expensive in comparison), so something that costs $100 (£60 +/-) will
cost us £100! Make things cheaper, they'll sell more 'geniune' copies
and still make the profits they enjoy.

Here in the UK we've been campaigning for years to get software, music
Cd's and DvD's cheaper, but a greedy industry ignores it saying it's
the counterfeiters fault!

No, its the high prices that gives the piracy people a foothold and
they cannot see it!
