LSP Removal?

J

The Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta1) found over 15 entries
that Ad Aware missed even after multiple scans; I was
impressed!

It also identified the culprit as SaHagent in the LSP
details but at the same time gave me no method to remove
them and/or send to SpyNet for analysis.

This is disappointing, as it has left my Internet
Explorer of no value. I can go on line but cannot
receive or send e-mail or surf the web.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you stuffed up you settings, try and reset
them in the setup of your mail program

Thanks for the reply but please explain; I know of no e-
mail settings in MSAV. According to MSAV, Sahagent has
15 entries as LSP's which is controlling where IE is
directed.

This KB article explains the issue:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350

This leads to a third-party utility which you may prefer if you are NOT on
XP SP2.

Thanks for your reply, it worked! All the SaHagent items
are gone from the LSP details are gone, too. I was
getting pop-ups right away so I rebooted and will run my
Ad Adware and AVG Antivirus (grisoft.com *Free Edition*)
before I reconnect that machine to the 'net'.

You may find that scanning and removal are more effective if done in safe
mode--this goes for AVG as well, but some have trouble scanning with some
AVG versions in safe mode.

If you have third-party apps installed which use LSP's, you'll need to
reinstall them.
