Hello All,
I have a Win xp home pc that does the following
1. At boot up time the Win xp home screen displays with the back & forth bar
graphic
2. The mouse pointer appears
3. Error dialog box appears with the following message (The header of the
dialog box says "lsass.exe- System Error" the text of the dialog box
displays "While trying to update a password the return status indicates that
the value provided as the password is not correct"
4. reboot.
I try to <ctrl><alt><del> to get task manager, but there is no time to do
anything before the reboot.
I took the HD from the pc, and placed it as a secondary drive in a xp pro pc
the xp pro pc had panda anti virus, adware6,spybot (all the latest updates).
I used these tools to scan, and eradicate over 3000 virus/Trojan/spy/malware
items. Rescanned afterwards, and I find no problems.
Replaced the HD in the original pc to boot it, and the same error appears.
Is the OS to infected to be cleaned properly? Any ideas why I cannot get rid
of this message.
Could I make this HD the secondary drive again, and copy lsass.exe from the
working win xp pro systems HD to the non working win xp home HD.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
