Lsass.exe Booting Error

N

NoelH

Hi, can anyone assist with this problem.

When booting in normal and / or safe mode I get the following error, which
prhobits me from entering my password and allowing the computert to boot:

Windows XP Home Edition
Compaq nx9010
Laptop

Just after the screen appears to enter the passowrd a pop up screen appears
with the following message:

Lsass.exe - SYSTEM ERROR

The specified domain does not exist

As soon as the OK or X button is selected the system reboots itself. I
cannot get past this to log on.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Many thanks NoelH

Obtain McAfee's virus and worm removal tool, Stinger: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

1) If you are using WinME or WinXP, disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
2) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode
3) Using McAfee Stinger, perform a Full Scan of your platform and clean/delete any
infectors found
4) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform
5) If you are using WinME or WinXP, Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any
System Restore preferences, (e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
6) Reboot your PC.
7) If you are using WinME or WinXP, create a new Restore point
8) Please report back your results

How do you this if the computer will not boot?

I am having a similar problem with a PC here at our company. But the PC
DOES NOT BOOT. You can try to boot into Safe Mode, Safe Mode with
Networking, or even Last Known Good Configuration and the results are
the same:

1. Error Message
2. Click OK
3. System Reboots

You have to perform a Repair-Install.

We're having the same issue with a NX9010.
lsass.exe - System Error - The specified domain does not exist.
OK. Reboot.

This happened after installing an update from Windows Update
