lsass.exe Access Violation causing reboot of Domain Controller

Sean E. Mulch

One of our domain controllers has been experiencing
intermittent issue where-in lsass.exe generates an
exception error and causes the server to reboot.
A review of all current MS articles indicates that all
known issues have been resolved by SP4. We are running
SP4 on this server and all file versions and dates are
newer/older than those mentioned in the articles.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Following is a snapshot of the error:

The application, lsass.exe, generated an application
error The error occurred on 11/17/2003 @ 09:39:04.301 The
exception generated was c0000005 at address 757B5954
(DsaEnableUpdates)

Hello Sean,

I have found several other cases here at Microsoft that had the same exact
error "c0000005 and dsaenableupdates".

It appears this issue occurs after installing SP4.

This issue has been resolved by applying the hotfix listed in the article
below:
828297 Memory Leak in Lsass.exe
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=828297

Please call 1-800-936-4900 and ask for this hotfix, there will be no charge.

I'm pretty sure that this hotfix will resolve your issue.

Thank You.

Diana.
