LQ-1170

I have an LQ-1170 which works perfectly on my "old"
computer running Win 95/ 98/ 98SE. When I connect this
printer (using the same cable) to my new computer running
Win XP, the printing "waves" back and forth". It seems to
go from italics, to normal, to reverse italics, to normal,
etc. There's nothing wrong with the printer. If I change
it back to the "old" computer, it still works perfectly.
The printer was installed using standard Win XP, etc. The
Epson site claims Win XP has the proper drivers for the LQ-
1170. Yet it doesn't work. How do I correct this problem?

It sounds as if the printer is printing bi-directionally (as the print head
goes left to right and also as it goes right to left) and the paper is
slipping on the platen.

Are you printing on fan-fold paper using tractor feed?
