LPT1 - Dos Commands not working after installing SP2

A

Abhi

After installing XP SP2 on the computer we are not able to
send files or DOS commands to send files/information to
the printer connected to the LPT1 port. Default printer is
connected to the LPT1 port.
None of the commands seems working including
Copying files to the LPT1 port
Print command
Net use command
Dir > LPt1
Etc..
Any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks
Abhi

Yes - It is printing a test page (I can print from MS word
and other applications to the printer connected to the
printer). We are having issues when we try to send DOS
commands from command prompt to the LPT1. Any ideas as why
this might be happening.

Just for a test, go to the Command prompt,
Type CD\ and hit enter to put you in the Root directory,
Go to the directory you want to type from,
Type: PRINT FILENAME.EXE and hit Enter,
(Using the correct file name and extension)
or
Type: COPY FILENAME.EXE PRN and hit Enter.

Your default printer should work with these in XP.

When I follow the instructions below, nothing happens
other than the "Active Touch Document Loader" shows the
status as "Letter not loaded in any tray" but the port is
shown as is blank.

Where as the printer has only one tray for loading paper
and printer status is shown as the paper is loaded.

Thanks
Abhi
