LPT1 - Device Manager

I have a HP LaserJet 6L that has been printing ok with XP Home SP2. After a
reboot it is not printing and I can't find the LPT1 port in the device
manager, none of the LPT ports are showing. Using the install hardware
wizard it does give me the option for the LPT1 port. Is my problem due to
the missing port in the device manager? How do I get it to recognize this
port? Or am I headed in the right direction?

Yes you are. Verify that the port is still listed in the computer BIOS. I
am pretty sure the 6L works fine in ECP mode. The spooler will always allow
picking an LPT port even on machines that do not have the hardware for net
use lpt1: configurations.
