I often set the display resolution of the monitor from the control
panel. I like the lowest resolution (slider all the way to the left)
and my parents like a higher resolution. Recently I've found that when
the slider is all the way to the left, that the screen looks very odd.
the windows are huge, the fonts are huge too and look odd. Why would
this happen? It used to work fine, the windows were bigger, but not
like this.
Thanks
Usually the other way around, the older folks like larger icons and text,
etc.
Anyway, are their separate accounts with each their individual setting's,
or one account that you just change ?
What about the in the higher resolution ? Do the Windows component's look
bigger there too, than they used to ?
Perhaps your parents adjusted the size of the individual Windows UI
components thru the 'Display Properties' -> 'Appearance' -> 'Advanced'
button.
That is the correct way to size the visual aspects of Windows, not really
by adjusting the screen resolution as you do. The picture will be more
sharp and detailed....just better.
My suggestion is to set the resolution to 1024 x 768, then go to the
previously mentioned 'Display Properties' -> 'Appearance' -> 'Advanced'
button and individually adjust the size of several things there.
You can click on a particular Windows component in the sample window to
select that to modify, or the drop-down box contains others that aren't
in the sample window. Ex.- In that box is a selection for 'Icons'. You
can select that and increase the size a few pixels, hit apply, and look
to see if the icons on the desktop are large enough or not, if not, add a
few more pixels. Adjust the font for the desktop icons directly below the
icon size.
You would most likely not have change more than a few things to get
everything sized to your liking.
