Low color on Remote Desktop

P

Peter

Hi

I have a minor problem with Remote Desktop on Embedded.

If I connect to the machine running Embedded with Remote Desktop from a
'normal' Windows XP the colors of all icons are 256 colour (looks awful) But
the RDP connection is correct with 16-bit, if I open a JPG image its
displayed just fine. Seems like some Hicolor icons is missing when
connecting though Remote Desktop (When im login locally all icons is in high
colour)

If I install a standard Windows XP on the same hardware as the embedded are
running, and with the same drivers all icons are just fine with Remote
Desktop. So it has to be something with Embedded to do...

Anyone have any ideas? (Tried both with Windows XP style and without)

Another small question:

How it is possible to get the desktop wallpaper shown when connecting though
Remote Desktop?

In the Remote Desktop Client under the Tap Experience you can select "Show
Desktop Background" but the wallpaper isn't displayed? This is both for
Embedded and a normal Windows XP.

Thanks

/Peter

Peter,
On your client machine make sure that your video properties are set to 32
bit. When you connect using RDP, this will support the next lower color
setting (24 bit). Likewise if you are already running 24 bit then the only
option that you will have is 16 for the connection.
