Lost XP Pro User Profiles

Last week we installed some DELL XP Pro machines with an
NT4 server. Several XP machines have lost user accounts
after shutting down or logging off.

The user directory seems to have been deleted. Desktop
settings and shortcuts are gone.

Any ideas?

Is this a NT4 issue?

We had this problem when using an XP Pro machine on an NT Server. We found that if you create the user and log on for the first time to an NT4 machine (or 2000 seems to work also), when you log onto your XP machine the profile behaves as normal. Can anyone shed any light on why this is?
