I have lost my XP disk - I have my license number.
If it was a retail license and you have proof of purchase:

If it was an OEM license, you should contact the computer's
manufacturer.
I need to reload XP because I have lost some functionality, mostly with
saving pictures and viewing video clips. I can't even download clip art.
Can I use my daughters XP disk to reload - it is an older version (2002)?
Only if your daughter's CD is the same edition and type license as your
original. Product Keys are bound to the specific type and language of
CD/license (OEM, Volume, retail, full, or Upgrade) with which they are
purchased. For example, a WinXP Home OEM Product Key won't work for any
retail version of WinXP Home, or for any version of WinXP Pro, and vice
versa. An upgrade's Product Key cannot be used with a full version CD,
and vice versa. An OEM Product Key will not work to install a retail
product. An Italian Product Key will not work with an English CD.
Bottom line: Product Keys and CD types cannot be mixed & matched.
My version is 5.1.2600. What will I loss is I go to an earlier version?
Service Packs and patches.
How do I get ahold of a new version?
There is no newer "version," per se, although, were you to purchase a
new copy, you'd likely get one with at least Service Pack 2 already
built-in. This, however would be a last resort, only if you cannot get
a replacement for your original CD.
