Lost word document from an emal that I edited

I have Office 2007 student teacher ed on vista.

I received a word doc from my Microsoft mail open it (instead of saving it
to the computer) and edited and saved it and closed it. I can't find the
edited version. I'm assuming the it would be in a temp file directory since
I never saved it to the computer only open it from the email. I checked the
email and it didn't save it there the unedited version is there. Is there a
way I can get that file back? I did not turn off my computer but I did close
Word 2007. Please help!

You should never open Word attachments directly from e-mail - however it
*may* be possible to recover your changes. See
