lost the address bar

I can no longer see the address bar.Tried veiw toolbar address bar all i get is a little rectangle at right top that says address.I can't see the address of any page I'am on.Computer is also used by my 20yr old son,might be looking at questionalbe sites.Have run ad aware with latest update.Have every available update from MS.Running XP home sp1 IE 6 formatted and reloaded everything fresh about 2 months ago.Tried to look at some of the tool settings in ie but I don't really see anything there.Have uptodate virus software always on.

Right click on the "address block" , make sure the "Lock the toolbars" is unchecked. If so, grab the dotted line to the left of the word address and pull it over to the left.

Right click the toolbar and uncheck Lock Toolbars.
Point to "Address" and hold down the left mouse button while you drag it
down to its own line.
