Lost sleeve with CD key

G

Guest

Got a new Windows XP OS and took the laptop & CD on vacation in my music CD
case. Realized too late I needed the sleeve with CD key to activate. Since
coming home I cannot locate the CD sleeve, cannot activate.

Is there some way to get the key from the disk, or will I have to buy
ANOTHER copy of Windows XP?

Belarc advisor will among other things display your XP lincense key.

Most and I would say unless you unlikely built your own laptop came with XP
pre-installed and the product key is on the bottom of the laptop. If you
upgraded to another version of XP the key would be on the back of a
presentation folder. If you did a clean install of XP with a OEM version,
the key would be on a sticker attached to the shrink-wrap, (i.e.NO CD
sleeve) In all scenarios, there is no real legitimate versions of XP that
would be distributed with the product key on the CD sleeve.
If this is a legitimate XP CD that came with the laptop, look on the bottom
for the key.
