I moved recently and have lost my Windows 2000 Product
activation key. Now I can't install it on my new computer.
How can I get a new one?

I upgraded from a P3 to P4 and my hard drive will not boot
so I think that I need to reinstall W2K.

If I upgrade to a larger hard drive is there a way to do
this without reinstalling all my software?

If the original PC is still bootable, try Keyfinder from
www.magicaljellybean.com to find the key. If it isn't bootable, you're out
of luck unless you have proof of purchase and it was a retail version - in
which case you can call MS directly.

If you bought Windows 2000 from a retail store, call Microsoft.
They'll ask you to verify the purchase and give you a new key.

If you bought Windows 2000 already installed, call the manufacturer of
your computer, again, they'll ask you to verify the purchase and give
you a new key.

If you bought Windows 2000 already installed and the manufacturer of
your computer has gone out of business (not too uncommon!) call
Microsoft, they have some kind of procedure to follow.
