I was re-filing some folders and moved a folder that had an open ppt file in
it. I rec. message that file or folder could not be moved, so I went to the
ppt presentation and saved it (it had previously been saved) then proceeded
to move the folder. Now I can't find this file. Please help.

Have you done a search in my computer for *.ppt? this will display all the
powerpoint presentations on your computer

Everytime I try to do a search, it says "Microsoft has experienced an error
and must shut down." I'm not sure if this is a problem for my companies IT
dept, but is frustrating when looking for a lost file. We are working off a
shared network so I'm not even sure how to do a correct search - do I just
point to my folder on the shared to search, which is what I've been doing
when it shuts down?

I am afraid you are learnign a hard lesson, NEVER, EVER, for ANY reason
saave a PPT file to a shared drive. It's just asking for trouble. If it
must be on a shared drive, save it to your local drive first and then copy
it.

Click on My Computer, then click on the search icon select All files and
folders and insert *.ppt in the all or part of the filename box

Thanks to you both for your help. Per our IT dept, I must have spyware on my
machine which is what is causing Microsoft to shut down when I go to My
Computer and click on the Search icon. However - Good News - I found my
file! I opened PowerPoint, then clicked on the open file icon and when I do
this, I have a bar of icons to the left of my screen and one is My Recent
Documents! I clicked on it and voila' - there was my file. I immediately
saved it three times and all was well. Thanks again for your help.
