Oops, was under the impression that this was the volume not
recognized under XP but no problem with Win98 thread.

The MBR repair with Fdisk is Fdisk /MBR.
But you need to have an intact partition table with
it since it only repairs the bootcode and signature.

With fdisk you enter the partition sizes yourself.

There's a powerful MS proprietary version of DOS 6.X. A MS employee
wouldn't let me have a copy. The fdisk run on that version was
awesome. It can recover damaged MBR/FAT tables in a large drive in a
minute.
