Lost my web site on my hard drive..please help?

Susan

I went to open my web site to edit it today, and it's not there! I have no
idea what happened. It's telling me the file does not exist. I know there's a
way to import/export the web site from www.milfordhavenkennels.com on the
Internet to my hard drive, but I don't know how. I've searched these forums
and can't find directions on how to do it. Will someone please help?

Thank you sincerely,
Susan

Open FP
File | Open Site
do you see it there?

How have you been opening the local website in the past?

Yes, you can PUBLISH from the remote server to your local hardrive if your
online web has FPSE installed (it does).

Open FP
File | Open Site
enter http://www.milfordhavenkennels.com
you'll get prompted for un/pw
now you have your online website opened in FP
then
File | Publish Site
enter where you want to Publish to on your local machine...like C:\my
documents\my webs\milfordwhatever
(path can be whatever you want but should probably be where your site used
to be stored)...the name of the web can be ANYTHING (fred, wilma, barney)
but *without* an extension.

When you're done you will have a local copy to work on again.

You only need to do this if you can't find where you've previously stored
your web(s).

You don't Import/Export sites - generally speaking that is.

{No I don't see it.}

{It was saved on my computer under C:\documents and settings\susan\my
documents\my web sites\MHK ...I have closed and opened this site many times
before, and don't know where it has gone. Normally, I open FP and click File
--> Recent Sites and click on it there and it opens just fine. Today when I
tried it, it told me it was not there. Even when I try File-->Open Site and
look where it should be, it's not there. I've even looked elsewhere and did a
search for "mhk" on my hard drive, and it doesn't find anything.}

{It tells me 'The folder www.milfordhavenkennels.com is not accessible.'}

didja try browsing to it from within FP, after you you entered Open Site?

try *mhk* in search

the only real way to delete a FP web is from within FP or there will be
remnants of it laying about.

are you sure it was a disc based web and not server based...which would be
found at http://localhost/mhk on your machine?

if all fails...Publish from online server to your hardrive as described
previously
